Seeing what other miss in 3D digital cytology

We have just been discussing an interesting finding in our laboratory about how digital cytology helps doctors to spot even smallest details in specimens that would otherwise escape their attention.

During testing, the new cITology technology for identifying microscopic objects detected tiny particles in a CSF sample - mycotic particles! They do not appear anywhere in the original description of the slide. They are very few and they ARE easy to overlook.

However, this case clearly demonstrates that digital cytology can, among others, help us “not overlook” even the smallest detail.
